1. Introduction
This policy describes what information HomeCare for HomeKit collects, what it does with it, and — just as importantly — what it never touches. HomeCare is an iOS and iPadOS app for diagnosing, monitoring and optimising a HomeKit smart home.
2. What we collect, and why
HomeCare collects anonymous usage data through Firebase Analytics, purely to understand which features people use and to catch crashes. This data cannot be linked back to you or your home. It covers:
- App launch events and which features are opened
- Crashes and technical errors, for debugging
3. What we never collect
HomeCare for HomeKit does not:
- Collect personal information or device identifiers
- Access, store or transmit your accessory names, rooms or configurations
- Track which HomeKit accessories you own, or where they are
- Store your scenes, automations or any other home automation data
- Share anything with third parties beyond the anonymous analytics described above
4. Everything runs on your device
All HomeKit diagnostics and monitoring happen locally. When HomeCare tests your accessories, checks your hub, measures response times or watches for state changes:
- All processing happens on your iPhone or iPad
- No HomeKit data is ever sent to a server — ours or anyone else’s
- Your home’s layout, accessory names and configuration stay on the device
- Network quality tests reach well-known public endpoints (apple.com, google.com, cloudflare.com) to measure latency and throughput; they send no information about your network or your home
5. How the data is used
The anonymous analytics are used in aggregate to see which features are actually adopted and where the app is slow or failing, so development effort goes where it helps. There is no advertising, no profiling and no sale of data — the app uses the Firebase Analytics variant that carries no advertising identifier.
6. Third-party services
HomeCare uses Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics, both from Google. Their privacy policy is available at https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
7. This website
This site uses privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics that count page views without setting cookies or storing anything that identifies you. No account is required to read anything here, and there are no advertising or social-media trackers on any page.
8. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated from time to time. Any change is published on this page with a new “last updated” date, and significant changes are reflected in app updates.
